Clontarf FC Awards Day June 2024
As the 2023/24 Season drew to a close for most Clontarf FC teams, the club gathered in the John The Baptist parish hall on Seafield road on what turned out to be a fantastic day, with the sun shining and the temperature rising.
As the committee waited for the hall to clear of the Little kickers and community groups, our events manager, Shea McNelis was organising the fun and games outside as well as the food and beverage trucks selling Coffee, Crepes, Ice Cream and an assortment of sweets and other refreshments.
From 10.30, himself and a number of the club committee members were getting everything ready for the big 2pm kick off.
By 1pm the stage was set, all the medals and trophies were ready for the presentation. And by 1.30 the first groups started to arrive and soon the outdoor area was starting to fill and the buzz of excitement for the day began. As our U8 boys and girls teams ate their fill of ice-cream, crepes and sweets while trying out their football skills on our inflatable activities.
There was a great turnout for all of our teams. Some of our teams had more players available than others, as summer holidays, trips to the Gaeltacht, other sporting events all unfortunately clashed with the day. But saying that we had representation by players and coaches from all of our teams from u8 up to U18.
Each team took turns to have a group photo taken in the hall before they were presented with their medals or trophies. There were lots of great group photos taken, just click on the image gallery below to see every team, including some great ones with the League Of Ireland Trophy, which was kindly loaned to us for the day by Shamrock Rovers, who are the current league of Ireland champions. There was lots of talk that as an affiliate club of Shelbourne FC we will hope to see the trophy back at our event draped in the Red and white of the lads from Tolka Park next year.
Our 9 a side U12 boys and girls teams were the last of our small sided teams to take to the stage. These groups all had a great season of football with some great results on the pitch and each team put in some amazing performances.
Special mention to our U12 Division 2 boys side who after a really long season that ran all the way to the end of June secured promotion to Division 1 after finishing second in the league.
The final awards of the day were the Player awards for our U13 - U18 Boys and girls teams.
The oldest Girls group currently playing in the Club are our U13s, who had a great season this year and played at a really high level at 9 a side and will move to 11 a side next year.
A special day also for our U18s as the finished their final season with the club.
As with all events like this after the awards have been given out and brought home, all the goodies have been eaten, the photos taken and everyone has said their goodbyes, the volunteers need to make sure they return the hall back the way they found it and it was a special thanks to everyone involved in organising such an amazing day for the club
